Ok, let me get a few of the important things out of the way first for you to know.1. Yes, there is a subscription to use it. You get 30 days free for signing up and registering a device. It's roughly $8 a month currently if you purchase it for one year. Cheaper if you do longer.2. The battery lasts about a week on a full charge, depending how much you use it or how active your pet is.3. There is no Shock/Vibrate function. This is solely a tracking, communication, and notification device.4. It requires a cell phone service area. If you live in the mountains or some rural areas where service is spotty, it might not work!Understand that this is basically a very simplified cell phone with a GPS receiver. That's why it has a subscription and the device is a little pricey up front. I like the notification ability on my phone when my pet goes outside of the boundary I set, or if they get agitated, start barking, or there's something abnormal detected.What I don't like..-I wish there was a way (I haven't discovered it yet at least) for someone to start a call from the pet's collar. This would be nice in case my dog ran away and someone found it. The person could press a button on the collar and it would ring the app on my phone.-The way to set up boundaries in the app for GPS notification is radius based. I have not learned a way to create custom chapes or draw the boundary. My house is next to a road but I have a large bard yard. Since it goes off of my address, the radius overlaps into the road. I want to be notified if they get outside of my front fence so I can protect them from the road.Overall, it's a nice concept. They have a lot of features upcoming on the planned road map. I think it will eventually turn out to be a great product. There are other GPS tracking collars out there that are CONSIDERABLY more expensive. They may have a shock or vibrate function to operate more like an actual fence, but for someone starting out who just wants to track their pets whereabouts, this is a good first choice to try.
